NO STUDENT LEFT BEHIND

No two students are the same.
So why should their lessons be?

TechNed is a voice-guided AI tutor that adapts to each student’s pace, closing gaps, deepening curiosity, and giving every learner the one-to-one attention that changes outcomes.

OUR REASON FOR WORK

For too long, education has treated students as passive recipients of information. The most powerful shift is not a new curriculum or a new tool. It is moving them from passive recipients to active participants in their own growth, and making that possible for every student at scale.

THE FOUNDATION OF TECHNED

We didn’t invent how students learn.
We built around what research already proved.

Four ideas shape everything TechNed does. They are principles great educators have long believed in, and our work is to help bring them to life for every student.

01

The 2 Sigma Problem

Benjamin Bloom, 1984

Benjamin Bloom observed that students who learn one on one often flourish in ways a busy classroom rarely allows. The reason most students never get that experience isn’t that tutoring falls short. It’s that giving every learner a personal tutor has, until now, been economically and logistically out of reach.

TechNedBrings one on one instruction within reach of every student, turning the kind of personal attention once reserved for a few into something every learner can have.
02

Zone of Proximal Development

Lev Vygotsky

Students learn best in the narrow band just beyond what they can do alone, challenging enough to grow, supported enough to succeed. Too easy and they coast; too hard and they shut down.

TechNedA short diagnostic at the start of each topic calibrates language and gauges what a student already understands. The topic is then taught across focused sessions, and when a student gets stuck, TechNed balances gentle scaffolding with clear, direct answers, so confusion becomes a step forward instead of a dead end.
03

Bloom’s Taxonomy

Benjamin Bloom, 1956

Real understanding is a ladder, from remembering and understanding, up through applying and analyzing, to evaluating and creating. Drilling recall alone leaves students stranded on the bottom rung.

TechNedMoves students up the ladder, not just through it, pushing past memorization toward reasoning, judgment, and the confidence to create.
04

Connectivism

George Siemens & Stephen Downes

Connectivism puts the learner at the center, empowering students to take agency over their own learning instead of passively receiving information. Real understanding grows through active participation, not delivery alone.

TechNedTechNed strikes a balance between that agency and a structured instructional framework. The student helps drive the lesson while staying guided through it, and progress depends entirely on their own engagement, responses, and demonstrated understanding.

HOW IT WORKS

A lesson built around each student.

From a short diagnostic to a structured session that responds to the student, every step is shaped by how they actually learn.

1

Start with a diagnostic

Each topic opens with a brief assessment of the student’s language level and familiarity with the subject. It gives Ned a starting point so the session does not begin from zero.

2

Taught at the right level

From that starting point, TechNed delivers the lesson in language the student understands and at a level they can build on, neither too far ahead nor rehashing what they already know.

3

Responds to the student

Throughout the session, Ned checks for understanding, addresses confusion directly, and does not advance until the student has engaged with the material.

4

Mastery before moving on

The session does not end at a fixed time. It ends when the student has demonstrated understanding of what was covered.

PERSONALIZED INSTRUCTION

One-to-one instruction, at scale.

Effective tutoring has always been personal. TechNed brings that same principle into the classroom, one student at a time.

  • Starts with context, not assumptions

A brief diagnostic orients the session before it begins, so Ned is not starting cold.

  • Meets them where they are

Sessions begin from what the student actually knows, not where a syllabus assumes they should be.

  • Structured toward mastery

Every session is built around a clear learning objective with checkpoints to confirm understanding along the way.

MEET NED

A tutor built to listen before it teaches.

Ned is the instructional voice at the center of TechNed. It asks questions, checks for understanding, explains in plain language, and does not move forward until the student is ready.

  • Responds to questions directly
  • Addresses confusion rather than moving past it
  • Adjusts based on how the student engages
  • Supports voice and text interaction
  • Works within a defined instructional boundary

WHY TECHNED

Education that serves the student.

TechNed is designed around one goal: helping students understand the material in front of them, at the level they are at today.

Understanding

Students learn better when instruction meets them where they are. TechNed is built to do that consistently, not occasionally.

Engagement

A session that responds to the student keeps them in the learning rather than waiting to catch up.

Foundation

Genuine understanding of fundamentals is what carries students forward, in the next unit, the next course, and beyond the classroom.

THE VISION

No student left behind.

One-on-one instruction has always produced the strongest learning outcomes. The challenge has never been the method. It has been making it accessible to every student, not just a few. That is what TechNed is working toward.

QUESTIONS

Good to know

Have a question not covered here? Reach us at lemi@techned.ai.

No. TechNed is a supplemental tool that supports what teachers are already doing. It gives each student individual attention during the session while the teacher focuses on instruction, classroom management, and the relationships that make teaching effective.
TechNed is currently being piloted in high school mathematics. Additional subjects and grade levels are in development.
Before each topic, students complete a short diagnostic. The results give Ned a starting point rather than a blank slate, and the session responds further as it goes based on how the student actually engages.
TechNed is built with guardrails designed to minimize redirection outside the academic scope of each session. Ned operates within a structured instructional framework rather than open-ended AI conversation, and student inputs are assessed before any response is generated to keep the experience educationally focused and purposeful.

NO STUDENT LEFT BEHIND

Personalized instruction within reach of every student.

TechNed is working with schools and districts to bring one-to-one instruction into the classroom. If you are interested in being part of that work, we would like to hear from you.
